With the pandemic still endangering our well-being, it’s essential to learn how to give our homes a deep cleaning.
Home cleaning has never been a pressing matter as it is today. However, we understand that many other things in life that demand our time and attention. So, we’ve talked to cleaning experts and asked them for cleaning tips that save time and money.
1. PREPARE YOUR CLEANING TOOLS
Without the right tools, it’s unlikely to complete the job effectively and efficiently. The starting point to a home cleaner is to have the right cleaning tools. Thankfully, you only need a few basic items.
Invest in some microfibre cloths.
Microfibre is a must-have cleaning tool because it can clean almost any surface. It works better than paper towels and sponges. Additionally, it can be thrown in the washer and dries quickly.
Put your cleaning supplies in a caddy.
Keeping your cleaning supplies in separate places is a huge time-waster. Get a sturdy caddy that can hold most of the things you need, such as microfibre cloths, latex gloves, all-purpose cleaning, and vinegar.
2. CLEAN AS YOU GO
“Clean your home daily to prevent the situation from getting out of control. If you don’t have the time, focus on high-traffic areas such as the kitchen and bathroom. By disposing of daily clutter, you can avoid cross-contamination and pileup of work at the end of the week.”, advises Cooper White, home inspector at Habitat Inspections.
Tackle spills immediately before they cling on the fibres. Do your dishes right after a meal. Take out the garbage before it overflows.
The point is: Don’t procrastinate and do the small chore before it becomes a big one.
3. TACKLE THE TEXTILES
One of the main challenges of every homeowner is dealing with dust-collecting textiles. These include curtains, upholstery, linens, and carpets.
However, if you make it a regular habit to run a vacuum through them, you’ll drive away pests and risk of respiratory problems due to dust.
Make it a point to wash the curtains at least every 4 to 6 months, and give them a light vacuuming once a month.
4. SET 10 MINUTES PER DAY TO TIDY UP YOUR BEDROOM
Have you ever been surprised by how messy your bedroom is after the end of the day?
It’s essential to keep the bedroom clutter-free because it is your place of solace and comfort. Setting at least 10 minutes of your day to tidy up the bedroom will make a difference. Try to ingrain it into your daily habit, and it won’t feel like a chore anymore.
Start by making the bed and arranging the items on the bedside table. Put back any clothing that has left the closet and collect dirty clothing into a hamper.
5. DELEGATE THE CLEANING TASK
One of the main reasons many of us are overwhelmed by cleaning chores is that we take too much responsibility. Change your strategy by involving other members of the household. Delegate tasks according to their age and physical capabilities.
If you’re all too busy to perform daily cleaning, hire professional home cleaners.
